802.11b/g? Different radios or one that does both?

All TM internetworking devices support two wireless radio options:

  • High-power 802.11b, best used for long distances
  • 802.11b/g, which supports both the b and g protocols, best used for shorter distance or controlled point-to-point applications.

TM devices can act as a wireless client, an AP, or an AP that does WDS.  The choice of radio is a function of several factors.  The biggest two are range and performance: the 802.11b radio has better range and the 802.11b/g radio, in closer proximity, has better performance. Check out more information in the Products section of this website, or contact our support department if you have other questions.
